When we were on the middle school basketball team together, Brian and I sat on the bench next to each other while our friends got to play. We got teased by our friends in the neighborhood , started to mutually resent our coach for not playing and developed a bond that would turn into a lifelong friendship. He went on to focus on media, I went on to focus on public service and we’ve had some great experiences intersecting our respective careers along the way.
